Iranian flotilla sets sail for Russia’s Makhachkala

TEHRAN, Oct. 14 (MNA) – The sixth Iranian flotilla carrying the message of peace and friendship has left Anzali port for Russian port of Makhachkala on Saturday.

Comprised of Damavand destroyer and Paykan missile boat, the flotilla will berth at the Russian port after a 48-hour voyage. 

The voyage aims at delivering Iran’s message of peace and friendship, enhancing maritime etiquette of the two states, and furthering cooperation on establishment of security in the region of the Caspian Sea are the main objectives of this journey.

According to Navy Commander Rear Admiral Sayyari, the flotilla is scheduled to hold joint drills with Russian navy during a three-day stay at Makhachkala port.
